Donald P. Beeman, CEO
Don Beeman has nearly 30 years experience in a variety of commercial roles with Merck & Co., Inc. and with start up experience at Topaz Pharmaceuticals, LLC. At Merck Mr. Beeman led the commercial operations of the billion dollar vaccine division. As a senior executive in the division, he was involved with research and manufacturing planning in addition to his line management responsibilities. Don’s experience covers numerous product launches including Pepcid®, Prilosec®, Singulair®, Fosamax®, and pre-launch planning for Gardisil®, Zostavax® and Rotateq® among others in both the U.S. and Australia. Don’s expertise and vision built Topaz, where he succeeded in raising start-up capital, outsourcing clinical development, building commercial plans and engaging potential partners.
 
Robert R. Goodwin Robert R. Goodwin, Ph.D., President and COO
Dr. Goodwin has over 15 years experience in management of biomedical development, technology transfer and biomedical product licensing. He has negotiated over 30 licensing deals in the healthcare field. Dr. Goodwin established the technology transfer office at the University of Rochester (NY), which consistently ranks in the top 10 in licensing royalty revenue among university programs in the U.S. He licensed intellectual property covering the HPV VLP vaccine technology to MedImmune that evolved into both GSK’s Cervarix® product and Merck’s Gardasil® product. He also managed an intellectual property portfolio including the Cox-2 gene and the vaccine conjugate technology at the heart of Wyeth’s HibTITER® and Prevnar® products. Dr. Goodwin later directed business development and licensing activities for STS Biopolymers, Inc., a private drug delivery and interventional surgical technology company that was acquired by Angiotech Pharmaceuticals in 2003.
 
Charles E. Richardson Charles E. Richardson, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Research and Development
Prior to joining LigoCyte, Dr. Richardson was VP of Manufacturing and Quality Assurance at Corixa Corporation. As General Manager of the Corixa site in Hamilton, Montana, Dr. Richardson assumed overall managerial responsibilities including adjuvant discovery and development, process development, manufacturing, quality systems and regulatory affairs for products in infectious disease, cancer and autoimmune vaccines. He led product development and manufacturing for MPL® adjuvant (now part of GSK’s vaccine portfolio) and Melacine®, the first approved cancer vaccine. Prior to joining Corixa, Dr. Richardson was Vice President, Pharmaceutical Discovery, for Ribi ImmunoChem. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and is an inventor on four U.S. patents.
 
Robert F. Bargatze Robert F. Bargatze, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Bargatze has 27 years of experience in leading immunological research projects to define the role of selectins, integrins, and chemokines in white blood cell recruitment and has published extensively on leukocyte and endothelial receptor interactions and signaling. Dr. Bargatze was a key member of the research team at Stanford University that successfully identified the critical molecular interactions of the inflammatory cascade. Prior to Stanford, Dr. Bargatze investigated the role of immune functions associated with IgE and allergies at the Scripps Research Institute. He was founding member and Research Manager of Quidel, an early 1980’s biotech company producing immunology-based products.
 
Larry W. Mikkola Larry W. Mikkola, MBA, CPA, Controller, Director of Finance
A certified public accountant, Mr. Mikkola manages LigoCyte’s finance and accounting functions. He has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience with publicly traded companies. Prior to joining LigoCyte Mr. Mikkola was a member of the audit staff at KPMG and served as the Controller and Assistant Treasurer for Westmoreland Coal Company (AMEX:WLB).
